Mr. Greenberg’s practice focuses on intellectual property rights with an emphasis on patent prosecution and strategic global patent counseling for large corporate patent portfolio holders, mid-range operating companies and early stage startups.

As part of the foregoing, Mr. Greenberg engages in intellectual property due diligence in private equity and mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property law opinions; technology transfer transactions such as drafting and negotiating licenses, confidentiality agreements and technology development agreements.

As a unique aspect of Mr. Greenberg’s practice, Mr. Greenberg specializes in concierge global patent portfolio formulation and management through a network of coordinated peer relationships in Western, Central and Eastern Europe with an emphasis on the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Germany and Poland, Russia, Canada, Japan, Korea, China, India, Australia, Israel, Brazil and Mexico.

In respect specifically to patent rights, as a member of the bar of the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Mr. Greenberg has written and/or prosecuted well over four-thousand new computer and Internet related, software, electrical/electronic, mechanical, electro-mechanical and medical device patent applications, both domestically and internationally.

Much of the legal career of Mr. Greenberg has been spent providing service to the community both at the State and National levels. At the State level, Mr. Greenberg has been an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Florida, Levin College of Law where he taught computer law and intellectual property. Mr. Greenberg also has lectured for the American Bar Association, the Florida Bar, the University of Florida, the University of Miami, the University of Central Florida, Florida Atlantic University and Nova Southeastern University, and the Association of University Technology Managers.

In 1999, Mr. Greenberg was appointed to Florida Governor Jeb Bush’s Internet Task Force. While a member of the Internet Task Force, Mr. Greenberg drafted legislation addressing the issues of cyberpiracy, the on-line protection of children and the Internet transmission of child pornography. Thereafter, in 2007, Mr. Greenberg was appointed to the Florida International University Board of Advisors to the Pino Family School of Entrepreneurship. Finally, in both 2002 and 2011, Mr. Greenberg was named Pro-Bono Attorney of the Year for providing pro-bono legal services in the field of intellectual property law to non-profit organizations in South Florida.

At the national level, Mr. Greenberg also has advised presidential candidates, and the leadership of both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate on matters of patent practice in the United States. Most recently, Mr. Greenberg has been tapped by the Zhongguancun Intellectual Property Rights Center (the "Z Park") to provide advice and guidance on the development and advancement of patent policy in the People's Republic of China.

For many years, in order to maintain a proper perspective of technology incubation Mr. Greenberg has participated as an investor in and Board member of the "New World Angels" and the “Miami Innovation Fund” advising both on matters of intellectual property due diligence in prospective early stage capitalization. As such, Mr. Greenberg acts as an active participant in a portfolio of a multiplicity of early stage investments spanning technologies from a plastic beer bottle opener to a network security appliance. Mr. Greenberg's most recent investments pertain to a technology accelerator in Chennai, India, a mobile application pertaining to interpersonal contracting, and also to the development and manufacture of a spinal surgical tool and endoscope.

Hobbies and interests

Mr. Greenberg is an avid traveller having visited thirty-two countries and over two-hundred fifty international cities. In his travels, Mr. Greenberg enjoys foreign language and genealogical studies, photography and, of course, food and wine. Mr. Greenberg also is an avid indoor sky diver participating in a four-way team. As well, Mr. Greenberg is a PADI certified open water diver. Finally, for more than a decade, Mr. Greenberg has split time between offices in Maine and Florida, where he rescues and rehabilitates retired racing greyhounds, cycles, raises two young sons, and generally enjoys the warm weather.
